UPDATE: Man shot and killed by law enforcement at Cliffside Park in Caledonia
UPDATE: The Racine County Sheriff’s Office confirms that one man was shot and killed by law enforcement as a result of the situation at Cliffside Park. Shortly before 10 this morning the Racine County Communication Center received a telephone call from a citizen who was at Cliffside Park. The caller reported that there was a man in all black clothing lying face down on a path and he was not moving. The caller also said he did not feel safe getting any closer to the subject.
Update: Joint tactical response ends in police shooting, killing man at Cliffside Park
UPDATE 6:46 p.m.: The tactical incident at Cliffside Park resulted in the death of a 37-year-old man after police opened fire because of threats against law enforcement. According to a joint press release from the Racine County Sheriff’s Office, Caledonia and Mount Pleasant police departments, at approximately 9:47 a.m., the Racine County Communication Center received a call from a park visitor reporting a man dressed in black lying face down on a path.

ROCHESTER — Engineers are working to control and repair a sinkhole that is disrupting traffic on a county highway that was rebuilt last year. Racine County highway officials said shifting earth below County Highway D has caused pavement to sink and crack on the two-lane road on Rochester’s west side.

MOUNT PLEASANT, WI — Criminal charges are piling up for a 38-year-old Milwaukee man, who now faces 12 new counts on top of eight from two other cases in Racine County. Camron Hoffman remains in custody in the Racine County Jail on a total cash bond of $5,500, along with a $4,000 signature bond. He was back in Racine County Circuit Court on July 3 for a preliminary hearing.

Bob Slominski pleaded guilty to a charge of hit-and-run involving great bodily harm and was sentenced to five years in prison followed by four years of extended supervision.
