    Mobile FEMA disaster recovery center makes pit stop in Boone County

    RACINE, WV (WOWK) – A new mobile FEMA disaster recovery center opened in Boone County Monday.

    The center in Racine is open for those who were impacted by the severe weather that ripped through eleven West Virginia counties in early April.

    West Virginia residents can apply for federal assistance after April storms, tornadoes

    “If you have a family member or friend who was impacted by the storms, please let them know that there are disaster recovery centers like the one we are at today available that offers face-to-face assistance,” said media relations specialist Trey Paul.

    Applicants may qualify for rental insurance, basic home repairs, personal property losses, and other eligible expenses related to damage from the disaster.

    The mobile center is located in the John Slack parking lot. Normal hours are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and the Racine location will be open until June 29.

    There are numerous ways to apply for FEMA assistance. You can visit in person at a mobile center, check online by clicking here , call their office at 1-800-621-3362 or download the free FEMA app.

    “People helping people here… it’s a beautiful thing. The word is getting out. We’re beginning to carry the torch but we’re relying on the people here in West Virginia to help us out as well” said Craig Wilson, with application services.
