RAHWAY, NJ — The brotherly duo of Isaiah and Joshua Moorehead, two-thirds of the filmmaking team Local Losers (the third member is their childhood friend and fellow Rahway High School alumna Lauren Elise), spoke to 18 RHS students on Monday, July 22, at the Rahway Recreation Center. The students were there as part of TeenWorks, the city's six-week summer youth employment program. The brothers stopped by to share a bit about their journey from RHS graduates to burgeoning (and already award-winning!) filmmakers.

Steve Lewis, the assistant director of Rahway Recreation and the director of TeenWorks, told TAPinto Rahway that this was the first visit to the program by Local Losers.

Lewis first learned about Local Losers' film production endeavors when the trio premiered a short film, Butterfly Effect, at the Cranford Theater back in February 2023. (See TAPinto Rahway's coverage of that premiere here and click here to view the film itself.)

After seeing the film and hearing about their academic and professional journey, Lewis knew Local Losers would provide the TeenWorks students with a morning of inspiration and fun.

During their visit, the Mooreheads spoke about the passion and enthusiasm that drives their work, along with a bit about how they have achieved success thus far.

Josh, whose professional moniker is yoaspire, is Local Losers' director, while Lauren is the team's assistant director. Isaiah serves as the chief writer.

To date, their film company has already produced several short films, shot a bunch of music videos, and added a number of other projects (both completed and upcoming) to their resume.

During the morning session, in addition to speaking to the students and fielding questions, Josh and Isaiah also screened for them the very first short film they ever produced, 4:04. (Click here to view the film.)

The students were impressed and engaged, and a few were maybe even a tad confused. And that's okay, because exceptional cinematic artwork is supposed to do that sometimes. We won't give anything away. You really should click the link above and see for yourselves.

TAPinto Rahway followed up with Josh after the visit.

"We had a great time speaking with the group," he said. "We love encouraging young creatives in our community to take a shot at filmmaking as a potential career or creative outlet."

And we at TAPinto Rahway always love hearing about it and covering all the good news coming from the Local Losers' artistic arsenal.

And speaking of good news, Josh also mentioned that the team is in the midst of another project right now. It's not finished yet, but he assured us that fans can expect something new coming soon from their favorite local filmmakers.

It was a pleasure, as always, to run into Josh and Isaiah (and Lauren, when we can manage to run into her too!) and give Local Losers the much-deserved attention and praise we're always so much more than happy to provide.
