RAHWAY, NJ — On Saturday, July 20, Rahway's Ebenezer AME Church and the nonprofit New Jersey Citizen Action Education Fund held another successful Rahway Community Resource Fair. This was the 3rd annual event, bringing together members of the community, a variety of organizations, and other local advocates for a terrific afternoon where, for once, the weather seemed to cooperate.
The inimitable Reverend Dr. Marti Robinson, pastor of Ebenezer AME, was on hand, as usual, welcoming the guests and introducing the speakers.
Along with Ebenezer AME Church and the NJ Citizen Action Education Fund, those organizations in attendance included the City of Rahway Police Department, City of Rahway Recreation Department, City of Rahway Health Department, Elizabeth Coalition to House the Homeless, Epic Inc., Fresh Start Second Chances, Lifelong Elizabeth, NCNW Good Health Wins Initiative, New Jersey Prevention Network, Patania Senior Healthcare Solutions, Prevent Child Abuse New Jersey, Primerica, Rahway Board of Education, Rahway NAACP, ReWorld Waste, Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Rahway & Trinitas Regional Medical Center, Union County Fatherhood Initiative Coalition, Union County Prosecutor's Office, United Way of Greater Union County, and the Urban League of Union County.
Both Danny's Soft Serve and Alfonso's Catering returned once again, determined to keep the crowd happy and satisfied with refreshing ice cream and delicious food.
The African American History and Heritage Learning Center, located right next door, was available for tours several times during the afternoon.
TAPinto Rahway checked in with Pastor Robinson in the days following the event and asked him for his thoughts.
"A big thank you to NJ Citizen Action and the dozens of local organizations who participated in our 3rd Annual Community Resource Fair," Robinson said. "I appreciate all of you. Our event was a major success because all of us worked together in an amazing way! Let’s do it again next year.”
And when they do, TAPinto Rahway will be there to catch all the action, excitement, and neighborly togetherness once again.
