    Poisoning At Rainelle

On last Saturday afternoon five men employed by the Meadow River Lumber Company were all taken sick about the same time with some form of poison which for a time doctors thought would prove fatal. The doctors worked with these men all night and by Sunday morning they were doing nicely with the exception of one, and he was taken to the Hinton Hospital where he is on the road to recovery. The cause of this peculiar happening has not as yet been ascertained, but it is thought that it was something in their lunch pail as they all five boarded at the same place.

    Among The Moonshiners

On last Thursday L. S. Cochran and Mc. Nickle raided the property at Deer Creek occupied by Joshua and Caleb Jones, their mother and sister. They found a complete moonshine still and a quantity of mash that had been run off, but Joshua and Caleb had caught a down freight and had journeyed into the land that flows with milk and moonshine to locate a new abiding place. The mother and sister were committed to the county jail to await the October grand jury.

    Sculptures Taken Back

The last of art treasures Britain hid for safety during the war has come back to light. When German bombers began raiding London and there was a threat of invasion, the marble slabs were hauled into an abandoned subway.

Holt, Jr., a real estate agent here, was one of eight named in the SEC complaint which seeks to prevent the company, Ridge Associates, from continuing to operate. The first allegedly imported and sold wine from abroad which never existed. After a five-hour manhunt involving approximately 34 law enforcement officers, Dobschensky was taken into custody.
