Where to shop and eat at Raleigh Iron Works

Raleigh Iron Works, one of the biggest eat-live-work-play developments underway in the city in recent years, is beginning to fill with tenants.

Why it matters: Built on top of a former Peden Steel facility, the development is adding hundreds of apartments and office and retail space north of downtown.

Here's what has opened:

• Andia's Ice Cream , a local ice cream chain started in Cary.
• Brodeto , the new Croatian-inspired restaurant from Raleigh chef Scott Crawford .
• Beatniks , a men's clothing shop focused on street, surf, skate and outdoor brands.
• Eastcut Sandwich Bar , the first Raleigh location for the Durham-based sandwich shop.
• FX Fitness , a fitness studio.
• The Flourish Market , a women's boutique and gift shop that moved from the Warehouse District.
• Ponysaurus , the second location for the Durham brewery.
• YoBa Studio , a gym that offers yoga, strength, cardio and a variety of other classes.

What's still coming:

• Jaguar Bolera , a bar and restaurant space that will offer entertainment like duckpin bowling. It's expected to open in May.
• Solidcore , a popular chain of Pilates studios. It is expected to open in May.
• Little Rey , a new taco spot from the Atlanta restaurateur Ford Fry. Expected to open in October.

Coming across the street at the under-construction Salvage Yard

• Triangle Rock Club is building its largest climbing gym in the Triangle yet, with an expected opening in the fall.
• NOCO Brewing , a new brewing venture from two of the founders of Cary's Bond Brothers opening this winter.
• Jaguar Pickleball , a pickleball-themed bar that could open this winter.
• Cannonball Music Hall , a 200-person music venue set to open this winter.
