    Neuse River drowning reported

    After an approximate 5-hour search, the Wake County Sheriff’s Office, along with partnering agencies, recovered a drowning victim at approximately 8:50 p.m. Saturday.

    The identity of the man will be released pending notification of his next of kin.

    According to witnesses, an adult male was spending time with family, and while he was swimming in the water, he went under and never resurfaced.

    The Knightdale Fire Department, Wake Forest Fire Department, Wake County EMS, Raleigh Police Department, and Raleigh Fire Department all responded and assisted in the search.

    At approximately 4:04 p.m. Saturday, the sheriff’s office received a report of a possible drowning near the Neuse River Greenway Trail and Loch Raven Parkway.
