Right after the NBA Draft concluded Thursday evening, NC State star DJ Burns signed a summer league contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers. But he won’t be the only Wolfpack player on a summer league deal.

Former guard DJ Horne agreed to a summer league contract with the San Antonio Spurs, the Pack announced, while former forward Mohamed Diarra is set to play with the Los Angeles Lakers, according to DraftExpress.com.

Horne, NC State’s leading scorer this past season, averaged 16.9 points and 3.5 rebounds in 32.5 minutes a game. He shot a 43.6% clip from the field, including 40.4% from beyond the arc.

While Horne was the engine that made the Wolfpack’s offense roll for much of the 2023-24 season, Diarra came on strong during the team’s postseason run. He averaged 6.3 points and 7.8 rebounds for the entire season, but Diarra scored in double figures five times in the postseason with seven double-digit rebound totals.

Summer league begins July 6 and runs through the 22nd. More information can be found here .

A look back at NC State’s successful athletic year.

Faizon Brandon , the No. 1 quarterback in the Class of 2026, put the Wolfpack in his top four.

    Quote of the day

NC State landed in Brandon’s top four along with a trio of SEC programs. Here’s what he thinks of the Wolfpack.

“Since their campus is so close to my parents, I know that they love how close it is,” Brandon told On3’s Chad Simmons . They’d be able to make it to every game without getting a hotel. That’s definitely a main reason why I like NC State. Seeing what Kurt Roper has done with quarterbacks in the past and the way he develops quarterbacks is impressive. He breaks down their games and mechanics, which shows me he knows what he’s doing.

“Another thing I like about them is how they’re very real. They’re not trying to tell you one thing and then you come there and it’s something different. Terrell Anderson goes there and he’s telling me a lot of good things about them. That’s a plus they have, one of my former teammates telling me a lot of good things about the program.”
