President Biden will hold a campaign event in Raleigh on Friday, just one day after squaring off with former President Donald Trump in the election cycle’s first debate.

Biden touched down at RDU Airport just before 2:00 a.m. on Friday, where he was met by a crowd and visited for a few minutes before departing.

The President will be joined at the North Carolina State Fairgrounds by Governor Roy Cooper and Attorney General Josh Stein. Rappers Fat Joe and E-40 are also expected to perform.

With the President and his sizable entourage set to arrive at the venue a little after noon, drivers should expect delays and road closures near the fairgrounds. It is typical for Raleigh Police to close roads near the venue for safety reasons.

This marks the President’s second visit to Raleigh this year. In March, he was joined by Vice President Kamala Harris to speak on health care reform at John Chavis Memorial Park.

As the election nears, both candidates have their eyes set on North Carolina and its sixteen electoral votes. Republican candidates have won a majority of presidential votes in the last three elections, and 10 of the last 11.
