A 44-year-old North Carolina man suffered non-life threatening injuries when he was shot in a room at a hotel on upper Peach Street in Summit Township during a fight with another North Carolina man early Friday morning, Pennsylvania State Police said.

Police said a 52-year-old suspect, who police said was traveling with the victim on a motorcycle road trip, fled the scene on foot before being taken into custody.

Police in a news release described the shooting as an aggravated assault.

The shooting occurred at about 3:40 a.m. at the Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham at 8061 Peach St., just south of the Interstate 90 interchange, police said.

Police said the two men were in their room when they argued and the suspect pulled out a gun. The two "began to struggle over a firearm when two rounds were discharged," police said in the news release.

The victim went to UPMC Hamot for treatment for "non-life threatening injuries," police said, providing no further details.

Police said the suspect, who's name had not been released, is from Raleigh, North Carolina. The victim is from Clayton, southeast of Raleigh.
