    3 children injured after SUV flips in Interstate 440 crash in North Carolina

    RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — Children were taken to an area hospital after an SUV crashed along Interstate 440 in Raleigh on Sunday afternoon, according to police who initially said two vehicles were involved.

    The one-vehicle wreck was reported just after 4:30 p.m. along I-440 westbound between Ridge Road and the Glen Eden Drive overpass, according to the Raleigh Police Department.

    Police said three children were taken to a nearby hospital for minor injuries related to the crash, but no one was seriously hurt.

    All but one lane was closed at the wreck scene, but a second lane later opened. The SUV could be seen on its roof via NCDOT traffic cameras.

    Before all lanes reopened around 5:40 p.m., westbound traffic was backed up to Glenwood Avenue.

    No other information was available.
