RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — On Saturday, a local fraternity once again did its part to help keep people cool during these hot days.

The men of the Eta Sigma Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity raised money and purchased fans for the Cool for Wake Fan program.

This year, the Raleigh fraternity donated 176 fans to Wake County Health and Human Services, two dozen more than last year’s donation.

Phi Beta Sigma has conducted the fan drive for many years and donated hundreds of fans.

Cool for Wake is a seasonal weather relief program that provides free fans to vulnerable residents who are adversely affected by extreme summer temperatures between May and September.

Homes, where a child, a senior, or a disabled person is living without air conditioning, are eligible for a fan.
