RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — A man from Franklin County got lucky when he bought a lottery ticket in the North Carolina mountains recently.

James Hinton of Louisburg spent $20 on a scratch-off ticket—and hit it big with a $100,000 win, according to the North Carolina Education Lottery.

Hinton was in Arden in southern Buncombe County when he bought his lucky $2 Million Riches ticket from Citistop gas station along Brevard Road, south of Asheville.

The $2,000,000 Riches game debuted in May 2023 with four $2 million top prizes and eight $100,000 prizes.
