NC State junior defensive tackle Brandon Cleveland spends his Mondays handing out pizza to the unhoused community in downtown Raleigh. In addition to that, he has helped raise money for the Feed the Pack Pantry, which helps unhoused students and those facing food insecurity.
Now, Cleveland has been recognized for his off the field work.
The Tampa, Fla.,, native was nominated for the 2024 AllState Wuerffel Trophy, it was announced Thursday. Cleveland is also nominated for the AFCA Good Works Team as one of the 111 FBS nominees honored for their community service efforts around the country.
The Wuerffel Trophy “embodies former Florida quarterback Danny Wuerffel’s commitment to being a humanitarian, while honoring student-athletes who are inspired to serve others and make positive impacts on society.”
The finalists will be selected by a national voting committee, which includes a fan vote, and will be announced during ESPN’s Home Depot College Football Awards Show on Dec. 12. The 2024 AllState Wuerffel Trophy will be presented on Feb. 1, 2025, at the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta.
