Citywide poll shows Raleigh voters losing confidence in city council despite city growth
RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — A considerable decline in confidence of city council is growing among voters throughout Raleigh. In a new poll from Livable Raleigh, 73 percent of voters said the city does not do a good job of keeping residents informed, up significantly from 49 percent in 2022. Additionally, only 23 percent of voters approve the council doubling their terms to four years, and only one in four voters said this year’s budget reflects their priorities.

Illinois Man Arrested for Allegedly Abusing North Carolina Teen
Green Oaks, IL – A 15-year-old girl from North Carolina was rescued from a Green Oaks residence, where she was allegedly held and abused. According to the United States Marshals Service, the missing girl was found on Prairie Ridge Road after an investigation with Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. On July 24, detectives obtained a search warrant and apprehended Andrew W. Szech, 43, who was seen leaving the home with the victim.
