    DPS: Ralls woman pronounced dead in Andrews County crash

    LUBBOCK, Texas — One person was pronounced deceased following a two-vehicle crash in Andrews County early Wednesday. A second person was seriously injured.

    According to the Texas Department of Public Safety at 3:40 a.m., 53-year-old Catherine Ann Koonsman of Ralls was driving eastbound down State Highway 176 Mile Post 276 and attempted a U-turn. Then, 38-year-old Manuel Hernandez of Casa Grande, Arizona who was driving westbound on the highway crashed into Koonsman in the westbound lane as she made the turn.

    Hernandez sustained serious injuries, DPS said. Koonsman was pronounced deceased by Justice of the Peace Mary Jane Baeza.

    The crash remained under investigation, DPS said.
