Pierre City Commission To Meet For Brief Agenda
PIERRE, (KCCR) — There is not much for the Pierre City Commission to consider during tonight’s weekly meeting of the group. Beyond the consent calendar, only a single item is on the agenda for Commissioners to consider action on. The consent calendar carries much more but given the nature of the items on the calendar, they are generally approved as one item, however items can be removed for further consideration. The calendar includes meeting minutes from the previous meeting, claim approval, setting a public hearing for August 13th for Pierre Players for a malt beverage and wine and cider license application, three new hires for the golf course, police and wastewater departments and a volunteer firefighter application. The lone action item for the Commission is a change order and pay request from Morris Incorporated for work on the Highway 34 Water Main Loop project. Commissioners will also present any dialogue they may have. The Pierre City Commission meets tonight at the Pierre Municipal Building at 5:30 pm.

Dangerous Heat Wave In Store Through The Rest Of The Work Week
RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) - Smoke looks to start to diminish as we head throughout the rest of the work week, but before it completely clears, we are still dealing with moderate to heavy smoke across the area tomorrow. The clearing line of the smoke is looking to arrive to the Black Hills by the time we are closing out our work week on Friday. Overnight, temperatures remain on the mild side with upper 60s forecasted for Rapid City with the possibility of even staying in the 70s all night. Clear skies with the haze will remain. Tomorrow, temperatures make it into the triple digits in Rapid City, but the heat doesn’t stop there. Our hottest day will likely come on Thursday with high temperatures reaching 103 by the afternoon. Dangerous heat is likely not only in Rapid City, but also across all of kota territory. Temperatures could be getting into the 110s by the time we get to Thursday in parts of NW South Dakota. Futurecast is not showing much happening over the next couple of days with just a few clouds. Overnight, mild temperatures remain with 60s and 70s likely across all of kota territory. Mostly clear skies will persist, but the smoke and haze will also remain with it. Make sure to keep those windows closed tonight to keep the smoke out. Tomorrow, a very hot day is in store. Triple digits are likely in almost all of Western South Dakota and NE Wyoming with a few spots in the Hills staying in the 90s. Mostly sunny skies will be accompanied by the smoke and haze for a fourth straight day. Very hot temperatures are likely for tomorrow so limit your time outdoors. NE Wyoming and the Northern Hills will also see the heatwave with the hottest day on Thursday. Even Deadwood will be flirting with the triple digits. Rapid City will see 3 straight days of triple digits with the hottest day being Thursday. Some isolated storms may fire off Friday evening, ending our triple digit streak for the weekend, but it will still be hot outside with 90s likely Saturday through Monday. Triple digits return to the forecast by the middle of next week. Happy Summer!
