SDDOT To Activate Temporary Traffic Signals During Sturgis Rally
(Sturgis, SD) — The South Dakota Department of Transportation will activate temporary traffic signals ahead of the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. From July 30th to August 12th, the signals will be in full operation at over a dozen locations along S.D. Highways 34, 79, and 44, U.S. Highway 16, and Interstate 90. Speed limits will also be reduced in some areas. Details can be found on the D-O-T’s website.

Chargers win Colman baseball tournament
The annual Midwest Corn Classic baseball tournament was held on July 23 in Colman at the Field of Dreams north of town. The ground for the Field of Dreams was donated to the city of Colman by an area farmer for the purpose of building a baseball field similar to the field in the movie "Field of Dreams," which was set in Iowa.
Over 200 bottles of alcohol seized from bootleg operation in Mission
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - Authorities seized over 200 bottles of vodka, multiple firearms and around $1,000 from a bootleg operation on Friday morning. According to Rosebud Sioux Tribe Law Enforcement Services, a search warrant was served at a residence on the north side of Mission in partnership with the City of Mission Police Department.

SD Highway Crash Claims One Life
A Sunday evening ATV crash claimed the life of one and severely injured another near Garretson, SD. Preliminary crash information indicates a 2022 Polaris ATV was traveling north on 487th Avenue, a gravel road, lost control, and entered the ditch. The vehicle rolled, ejecting both occupants. The driver, a 16-year-old female from Garretson, SD, received fatal injuries. A passenger, Mark T. Pierret, was transported to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries. Neither was using their seatbelt.The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
