Missouri Couple Attacked at Nebraska Highway Rest Area
On June 19th, a retired couple from Missouri was attacked in their RV by a knife-wielding assailant at a Nebraska rest area. James D. Thompson, Jr., 22, of Elyria, Ohio, has been charged with first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, multiple counts of use of a deadly weapon, first-degree assault, attempted robbery, and operating a vehicle to avoid a felony.
Fleeing suspect arrested after striking a Perry County, Illinois squad car
NASHVILLE, Ill. (KFVS) - An aggravated fleeing and eluding suspect has been arrested in Perry County, Illinois after striking a squad car. Around 10:30 p.m. on Friday, July 5, a lieutenant with the Nashville Police Department in Illinois was traveling southbound on State Route 127 near Richview Road when he was passed by a white Ford Explorer traveling southbound at high rates of speed. According to the police department, the Explorer passed the NPD squad car and additional cars around a curve where there was also oncoming traffic.
Mobile DMV coming back to Alton
Due to the success of the first “Mobile DMV” offering at Alton City Hall, three more have been scheduled, including one for this coming Tuesday. Mayor David Goins’ office says they heard from constituents how friendly and knowledgeable the department of motor vehicles staffers were last time, getting people “in and out” with just a brief wait time. They called it a “hassle-free” experience.

Thomas Kinworthy Receives Life Sentence for Fatal Shooting of St. Louis Officer. St. Louis Man Convicted of Murdering Police Officer and Injuring Others. According to the True Crime News, a man named Thomas Kinworthy, aged 47, has been given a life sentence in prison without any chance of release for shooting and killing St. Louis Metropolitan Police Officer Tamarris Bohannon in August 2020. This decision was made by the St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office on June 27, after a jury found Thomas Kinworthy guilty of murder, armed criminal action, and assault in May. Thomas Kinworthy, who had previously skipped bail in Florida, also shot Officer Arlando Bailey and injured a homeless man named Mark Smith, who later died from unrelated causes. The incident led to a 12-hour police standoff before Thomas Kinworthy was eventually captured by the SWAT team.

According to the Centers for Disease Control, they're investigating an "outbreak linked to a food source" which causes a diarrheal illness reportedly due to a parasite called Cyclospora cayetanensis, or cyclosporiasis.
