    Henry Rumreich

    Parents: Don and Jenine Rumreich

    Town: Ramsey

List the activities you have participated in and tell of your proudest accomplishments:

I have participated in Wind Symphony, Jazz Band, Chamber Choir, Voce Choir, Pep Band and DECA. My proudest accomplishment was at the state finals championship game for football last year where I got recognized by the head of MSHL, John Millea and was very briefly in the news for playing my Accordion! Always a blast!

What is your favorite class and why? What is your favorite subject?

Well, band has got to be my favorite class as the community made within the music we create is so much fun and powerful to be a part of! There’s really no other subject like music!

    What are your future plans?

I’m planning on going to UMD next year for financial planning and Jazz.

What are your hobbies and/or personal interests?

My hobbies contain listening to music, playing board games and gallivanting around town with my friends!

Who is your hero, if you have one, and why?

Weird Al Yankovic. Weird Al has had a HUGE impact in how I approach life and music, showing me how fun music can be and to never take life too seriously! He’s so much fun to watch perform but is an even better role model in how to live as a good human being!

Tell of a most memorable experience that relates to school, personal interests or a hobby.

One of my fondest memories, (though not as big as the state game) was when the jazz band was clearing off the stage after a concert and my buddy Joel and I were moving the Vibraphone off of the riser and it suddenly dumped! We were scared for our life! Because we figured Rosner would kill us when he found out that we dumped his brand new instrument, but Rosner was really cool about it. At least until I broke the tambourine!

    How do you demonstrate leadership?

I demonstrate leadership in how I act. A guiding principle since I was a wee lad was to always have fun. As I grow older I’ve learned through school that there is a time and a place for fun and I’d have to temper it just a little bit. So I strive to always have fun with those I lead and teach through example how to have fun and still get things done!

How do you approach academics to achieve success?

Since finishing my math career sophomore year, I’ve approached school very nonchalantly, trying less to be perfect but put out what I can naturally do. This has made school much more enjoyable when you put out the work that you are satisfied with. Also since dropping math, my GPA has gone up! Coincidence?

What special projects have you done, in or out of school?

The biggest project I’ve been a part of was planning and running the Homecoming depots for the schools in Elk River. It was THE coolest thing to see what happened to make some of my best elementary school memories, and to bring that to a whole new bunch of kids!

Why do you think you won this award?

Most likely I won this award due to my character. My academics are nothing unusual but where I strive to become better and DO my best, is with people. Weiler taught me that the most valuable resource in life, are the people around you! Can’t get anywhere without friends to depend on! With this, I always strive to be the best that I can be.

What does it mean to you?

IT MEANS LUNCH, BAAABBBYYYY!! WOOO!! Its also neat to be recognized by others. BUT LUNCH, MAN
