Comedians rally for Ramsey pizzeria impacted by Highway 10 road construction

For an Anoka County pizza joint, laughter may indeed be the best medicine for construction-related business woes.

Auerelio's Pizza, located along Highway 10 in Ramsey, has been impacted by the ongoing MnDOT construction project on the highway. Started in March 2022 and scheduled to wrap up early this summer, the roadwork has taken its toll on the pizzeria.

According to a news release, the business has suffered a 40% decrease in customer traffic compared to last year.

"It's just disappointing and scary, being this is my family’s lifeline," said co-owner Sara Stawski in a statement. "When we can’t pay our bills here, we can’t pay ourselves."

In response, a group of local comedians are coming together for a special comedy benefit show at the restaurant, which promises an "evening of laughter, community spirit, and support for this cherished local pizza joint."

Along with hosts Justin Neal and Nate Hood, headliner Dan Hinnencamp will be joined by Stephanie Rosell and Kimberly Ashlynne

Every ticket sold will "directly benefit" Aurelio's, "helping them navigate the financial challenges" posed by the Highway 10 project, organizers say.
