Citlalli Ortiz is about to live out a lifelong dream.

Ortiz will represent Mexico in the 2024 Olympics in Paris.

"I'm very excited. I think it's a big accomplishment, being an Olympian in general," Ortiz said.

The 24-year-old boxer was born in Rancho Mirage at Eisenhower Hospital and graduated from Coachella Valley high school in 2018.

Ortiz is one of four fighters on Mexico's boxing team, earning her spot on the Olympic team through qualifying.

After fighting as a member of Team USA, Ortiz decided to represent Mexico in 2018. Carrying dual citizenship, she fought nationally for both countries in 2017. She has seven national titles with USA and six national titles with Mexico.

As an amateur, Ortiz has a 57-7 record, including a world gold medal, which she won back when she was 17 years old. She is 4-1 since turning professional.

At the 2024 Olympics, Ortiz will fight in the 165-pound weight class. Her first fight is scheduled for Wednesday, July 31.

She will fight four times at the upcoming games and can secure a medal by winning two matches.
