Apprenticeship Randolph welcomes 21 new pre-apprentices
RANDOLPH COUNTY — Twenty-one area high school students have been chosen by Apprenticeship Randolph employer partners for a summer pre-apprenticeship. The pre-apprentices in three pathways — 10 in computer-integrated machining, nine in industrial systems technology-mechatronics and two in information technology — are currently taking summer classes at Randolph Community College through July 22 and working with their AR employer through July 26. At the end of the pre-apprenticeship, employers and pre-apprentices will decide whether it is a good fit. Those who agree will be given a full apprenticeship with the eighth signing ceremony, slated for Tuesday, Aug. 6, at RCC.

A Randleman man on parole after being released from prison in February was arrested Friday after being found to have firearms, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office said. William Chad Whitt, 49, of WOW Road has been convicted of numerous felonies since 2010, most recently two counts of breaking and entering and possession of stolen goods in 2018, which means he is not allowed to have any guns.
