3 charged in connection with vehicle theft
Three people have been arrested in connection with a reported vehicle theft in the Archdale area, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office said. The theft was reported at a site on U.S. 311 on June 7. Following an investigation, charges were sought against John Wesley Johnson, 49, for felony possession of a stolen motor vehicle and felony possession stolen goods.

Randolph County man arrested following fatal crash
ASHEBORO, N.C. — Tuesday night around 9, NC State Highway Patrol were called to a crash scene on Loflin Pond Road at Foxworth Road in Randolph County. Troopers say Fernando Avalos Lopez, 49, of Asheboro, was driving north on Loflin Pond Road and trying to turn left onto Foxworth Road in a Ford F-350. Jeffrey Eugene Allen, 49, of Asheboro, was at the stop sign on Foxworth Road, in a Nissan SUV. Lopez was reportedly driving at a high speed, turned too early, and hit Allen head-on in the Y-intersection.
