Rotary Club distributes atlases
ELKINS — The Rotary Club of Elkins has, once again, distributed Webster’s International Atlases to all 5th grade students in Randolph County. The atlases contain basic information (maps, population, area, monetary units, etc.) about each of the 195 countries of the world, the fifty states, the District of Columbia, and the five territories of the United States. It has been completely revised and updated by the editors of Encyclopaedia Brittanica to incorporate the most current information available.
Randolph man facing felony charge of wanton endangerment
BEVERLY — A Randolph County man was arrested after allegedly firing a gun while being chased by a man and woman during an altercation over allegedly stolen property. Cole Alexander Edmond, 30, is charged with wanton endangerment, a felony. He is being held in the Tygart Valley Regional Jail on a $50,000 cash-only bond set by Randolph County Magistrate Tracy M. Harper.
Man accused of running over another man with an ATV
VALLEY HEAD — A Randolph County man was arrested for allegedly running over another man with an ATV. Joseph Lee Shipman, 37, of Valley Head, has been charged with malicious or unlawful assault. He is being held in the Tygart Valley Regional Jail on a $25,000 cash-only bond, set by Randolph County Magistrate Michael Dyer.
4th annual Rosie the Riveter event planned in Elkins
ELKINS — Our Town Inc.’s Fourth Annual Rosie the Riveter Celebration will take place on Saturday, Aug.10 at the Randolph County Community Arts Center. Sheriff releases additional information in fatal accident
HUTTONSVILLE — The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office released more details about a fatal accident involving a pedestrian that occurred early Tuesday morning. According to a statement released on Sheriff Rob Elbon’s Facebook page on Wednesday, the victim in the tragic event has been identified as Debbie Bennett, 41, of Huttonsville. According to the release, Bennett walked into the roadway and was struck by a vehicle.

Pedestrian killed in fatal accident
HUTTONSVILLE – The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office reported a fatal accident involving a pedestrian that occurred early Tuesday morning. At approximately 1:52 p.m., “911 dispatched a vehicle accident involving a pedestrian at the Huttonsville Par-Mar,” an RCSP press release states. “Deputy Davis and I, Deputy Pingley, responded to this location. The accident was fatal for the pedestrian.”
