Bee Jay Defense Falters in Loss to Larks
The Liberal Bee Jay defense committed four errors and allowed six unearned runs in an 8-5 loss to the Hays Larks at Brent Gould Field Tuesday night. Shawnee man gets life sentences for killing girlfriend and her unborn child
A Shawnee man could serve the rest of his life in prison for the murders of his pregnant girlfriend and her unborn child. On July 15, Judge Thomas Kelly Ryan of Johnson County District Court handed down the sentence to Doniel L Sublett Jr., 30, of Shawnee, for two counts of premeditated first-degree murder.

Fast Start Lifts Larks Past Liberal
The Hays Larks built an 8-1 lead after three and held on to beat the Liberal Bee Jays 9-7 Wednesday night at Brent Gould Field. Hays moves to within a half game of first place and now owns the tie-breaker in the Rocky Mountain League. YMCA to be built on land donated by HRHS at 20th and Lorraine

The future 75,000-square-foot Y branch will be located on land donated by HRHS to the Y near the intersection of 20th Street and Lorraine; it will replace the Hutchinson Y’s current location at 716 E 13th Ave.
