Iowa State football: See Cyclones' ratings in release of EA's 'College Football 25'
EA's "College Football 25" launched Monday for those who pre-ordered the Deluxe Edition, while the standard worldwide launch isn't until July 19. The hype and buildup for this release has been massive as the video game franchise's last installment came in 2013 with "NCAA Football 14," which featured Michigan’s Denard Robinson on the cover.
Sinkhole opens in central Iowa town, forcing officials to block off street
DAYTON, Iowa — A sinkhole has closed a portion of 1st Avenue Southwest in Dayton. The city says it's between 8th and 9th streets. Barricades are up and the city is asking people to stay away from that area. It is unclear how big the sinkhole is or what caused it.

Deadly Derecho Carves 500-Mile Path Of Destruction Across Midwest
A deadly derecho swept across the Midwest on Monday (July 15), leaving a path of destruction nearly 500 miles long from Iowa to Indiana. The storm brought hurricane-force winds and tornadoes, uprooting trees, snapping utility poles, and ripping roofs from buildings. The Chicago area was particularly hard hit, with hundreds of thousands of residents left without power.
Ankeny softball quartet, Centennial trio earn IGCA academic all-state honors
Four Ankeny softball players and three from Ankeny Centennial have been named to the academic all-state team by the Iowa Girls’ Coaches Association. The Hawkettes were represented by Marah Hansen, Hannah Howard, Cassie Johnson and Ava Tomlinson. The Jaguars, meanwhile, placed Payton Drefke, Addie Pollock and McKenna Vallejo on the squad.
Bedford works through rough start to punch first ticket to State Tournament
(Atlantic) -- Bedford baseball continued their magical run Tuesday night by punching the program's first trip to the State Baseball Tournament. The Bulldogs overcame a slow start and leaned on some clutch hitting, stellar pitching and solid defense down the stretch to beat Tri-Center 7-4 in a Class 1A Substate 8 Final.
