The Honorary Way sign will be dedicated at 12:45 p.m. Aug. 10. Meanwhile, the Ravenna Rocks concert series returns. The event, which will run 11 a.m. until 9:15 p.m., will feature music, a cornhole tournament, vendors and a cruise-in before fireworks at dusk. The city's Parks and Recreation department also will host its chalk festival during Ravenna Rocks. Cost to participate is $10 and includes all materials, and participants will compete for cash prizes. The structures are regularly renamed for citizens who contribute to the community. Cline said Piccione-Beach won the most votes and was nominated by two people − Anne Marie Noble, director of <a href="https://www.record-courier.com/story/news/local/2022/12/04/the-haven-of-portage-county-opens-homeless-shelter-but-warming-centers-still-needed-advocates-say/69683220007/" rel="nofollow"> The Haven of Portage County </a> ; and <a href="https://www.record-courier.com/story/news/2021/11/02/incumbents-ahead-ravenna-city-council-races/8543497002/" rel="nofollow"> Amy Michael </a> , a Ravenna councilwoman. <nbtemplate data-id="AdPlaceholder" data-content="JTdCJTdE"></nbtemplate> Piccione-Beach's nomination forms noted her experience as a teacher in Ravenna City Schools for 30 years and a long list of community service, including work for Family &amp; Community Services, Axcess Pointe, Ravenna Parks and Recreation, the Center of Hope, the Ravenna Elks and Eagles clubs, and work as a court appointed special advocate. As a member of the Friends of the Park committee, she worked to raise funds to make the Chestnut Hills Park playground a reality. In 2017, she was <a href="https://www.record-courier.com/story/lifestyle/2017/09/08/longtime-volunteer-teacher-to-oversee/18838238007/" rel="nofollow"> grand marshal </a> of the Ravenna Balloon A-Fair. For many years, she has organized the school supply distribution and the Thanksgiving and Christmas distributions for Family &amp; Community Services/Axcess Pointe. She also helps coordinate activities during Midnight Madness festivities. <nbtemplate data-id="AdPlaceholder" data-content="JTdCJTdE"></nbtemplate> Cline said it's fitting to honor Piccione-Beach during the celebration of Ravenna's 225th anniversary, because she has been well known in the community for decades. "She's just a good, kind person who doesn't expect anything in return," she said. <h2 class="presto-h2 wp-block-heading"> Ravenna Rocks </h2> Ravenna Rocks, which in the past has been a <a href="https://www.record-courier.com/story/news/local/2023/05/04/ravenna-rocks-series-summer-2023-concerts-rock-bar-tyrones-blues-sinsation-full-flavor-experience/70174405007/" rel="nofollow"> concert series </a> with multiple events throughout the summer, is a single, daylong event this year. Festivities start at 11 a.m. Live music will be provided by DJKrooze and The KrewWay Experience, Kendall Chalkwater, Back Alley Relics, Matt Carson Music, The 1052 Band and Kara Watson. The Michael Weber Show will be the headliner. In addition to the music, the event also will feature the Ravenna Rocks Concert Jeep show; a cornhole tournament; various vendors and a guitar giveaway. Joan Pahls, who is giving away a guitar in memory of her brother Drew, wants to give the guitar to a youth who is an aspiring musician. The recipient of the guitar must be present at the concert, and details on the giveaway will be posted on <a href="https://www.facebook.com/TheRavennaRocks" rel="nofollow"> Facebook </a> . <nbtemplate data-id="AdPlaceholder" data-content="JTdCJTdE"></nbtemplate> The fireworks, Cline said, will be set off in the <a href="https://www.record-courier.com/story/news/2014/05/04/new-ravenna-park-moves-closer/19874657007/" rel="nofollow"> city park behind McDonald's </a> , and no parking will be permitted there. Although fireworks have taken place in Ravenna Township, there have not been fireworks in the city for 20 years, she said. "The fireworks are going to be a great addition," she said.
