Donald Trump late Tuesday night sounded off against Stephen Colbert, calling the late-night host a "total loser" who isn't funny and who "gets paid far too much" for his job.

The former president took to his Truth Social account just before midnight to attack Colbert, the host of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, mistakenly saying his show is on PBS. The move comes just after Colbert featured Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and argued that Trudeau's Conservative leader, Pierre Poilievre, is “Canadian Trump."

Trump apparently didn't take the comments well.

"I briefly watched an interview of Stephen Colbert on highly government subsidized PBS, and found it fascinating for only one reason — Why would they be wasting time and the public’s money on this complete and total loser?" Trump asked. Colbert is actually on CBS.

He continued, saying, "He is not funny, which he gets paid far too much to be, he is not wise, he is VERY BORING, and his show is dying from a complete lack of viewers —Gutfeld, on cable, is killing him!"

Trump further claimed that "CBS should terminate his contract and pick almost anyone, right off the street, who would do better, and for FAR LESS MONEY — Or I could recommend someone, much more talented, and smarter, who would do it for FREE!"

Finally, the ex-president said there is some positive news for Colbert:

"The good news for Stephen is that the two DOPES on NBC & ABC are not much better than him!" Trump shouted on Truth Social.

HuffPost reporter Brandi Buchman responded to the comments on X, saying, ""The near 80 year old convicted felon and sexual abuser Donald Trump is on his Twitter knock-off griping about late night host Stephen Colbert. Trump will never be funny or talented or skilled, charming or interesting or learned, so he (and his staff) tweet. That's his skill."

"His ego is so fragile. It's like a delicate baby bird," the reporter added.
