Minnesota Republican Senate candidate Royce White took to social media Thursday night to unleash a self-described “unpopular take,” suggesting rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs’ criminal charges were nothing more than a smokescreen intended “to distract Black people from the most important election in American history.”

White, a 33-year-old ex-NBA player who is challenging Democratic Sen. Amy Klobuchar on the November ballot, said in a bizarre rant on X that while he “was never invited,” a lot of people “knew what was going on" with "this entire Diddy situation."

“Diddy has been doing this, Epstein had been doing this, this isn't new,” White wrote in a post to his over 240,000 followers. “This type of business has been going on for a long time. A lot of people knew what was going on. A lot of people participated. I was never invited, didn't care enough about money or looking cool.”

White continued: “But man y'all are so interested in it. I'm not saying it's not newsworthy, or something terrible didn't go on... but stay focused.”

He went on to list a series of talking points before disparaging Vice President Kamala Harris for “switching accent and lying at every rally.”

“Black people seem more interested in Diddy than their own future. Which is historically a symptom of Black decadence,” he said.

White’s take on Combs, who has been federally indicted on charges of racketeering and sex trafficking, spurred well-known neoconservative writer and political analyst Bill Kristol to skewer him and other Republicans .

“Q.: What's wrong with the GOP? What leads to members of Congress like Lauren Boebert and Paul Gosar, statewide candidates like Mark Robinson and Royce White, bigots close to the presidential nominee like Tucker Carlson and Laura Loomer? A: A fish rots from the head down,” the post read above a picture of former President Donald Trump.
