A small fly stole Donald Trump's thunder at the former president's rally on Saturday, causing him to rant about how things wouldn't have been like this years ago.

Trump spoke at an indoor rally in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, where at one point he called Vice President Kamala Harris "a mentally disabled person." Trump would later blame Harris for having to host the event in a "small arena."

In the middle of a heated monologue about illegal immigration, a fly on the stage caught his attention.

"Oh there’s a fly," Trump said Saturday. "Oh. I wonder where the fly came from."

He continued, saying, "See, two years ago, I wouldn’t have had a fly up here. But they’re changing rapidly. We can’t take it any longer."

This distraction led to an eruption online. Numerous commenters drew a parallel between this incident and when a fly landed on Mike Pence's head several years ago.

Republican accountability group American Bridge 21st Century said, "Trump is exhausted and struggling to stay on track. He begins a story about a hat, but gets distracted by a fly and never finishes."

The group's digital media director, Kelsie Taggart , also chimed in: "Donald Trump is completely losing his mind during this speech."

MSNBC host and legal analyst Katie Phang responded, "This is not normal."

Body language analyst Dr. Jack Brown said, "Insects on his brain. Synapses diminishing... Prefrontal cortex plunging."

"Where carrion rots, flies will follow," the analyst added.

Internet personality Andrea Junker said, "Which brings us back to the comments about Trump’s body odor. — Unpleasant for humans, not so much for flies."

Historian Federico Finchelstein said, "The vocabulary of wannabe fascists like Trump recalls the rhetoric behind Nazi policies of persecution and victimization, specifically, the way that rhetoric imagined the enemy and then substantiated enemies in real people."

"Dehumanization is key dimension of fascism," Finchelstein then added.
