    NASA astronaut posts stunning timelapse video of Hurricane Milton from space

    NASA astronaut Matthew Dominick on Tuesday posted footage taken from the Dragon Endeavour spacecraft showing Hurricane Milton as it barreled toward the Florida coast .

    Writing on Twitter, Dominick explained how he got the opportunity to capture an orbital view of the hurricane.

    "We flew over Hurricane Milton about 90 minutes ago," he wrote . "Here is the view out the Dragon Endeavour window. Expect lots of images from this window as this is where I’m sleeping while we wait to undock and return to Earth."

    Shortly after this post, he uploaded a two-hour timelapse video of the storm.

    As of Tuesday, Hurricane Milton is classified as a Category 4 hurricane with sustained winds of 150 miles per hour and is prompting mass evacuations from the Sunshine State.

    On Monday it had looked even more fearsome as it made its way toward Florida as it reached the status of a Category 5 storm with sustained winds of 180 miles per hour.
