'Circling the drain': Ex-GOP lawmaker warns Trump's brain is 'decomposing by the hour'

Former Rep. Barbara Comstock (R-VA), who earlier on Friday gave a withering review of former President Donald Trump's appearance at the Alfred E. Smith Memorial Foundation Dinner, took to Twitter shortly afterward to speculate on whether his performance was a sign of cognitive decline.

In her post, Comstock linked to a video of Trump "slurring" his way through his speech at the dinner and then wondered whether performances such as this were the reason he has been canceling interviews constantly over the last several weeks.

"At a Catholic Charities event last night, a slurring confused Trump was swearing in front of the priests, doing his mean girls revenge list and showing his brain is circling the drain and decomposing by the hour... which is why his staff is cancelling events," wrote Comstock, a longtime Trump critic who has endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris this year.

In just the last month alone, Trump has canceled major television interviews with CBS News' "60 Minutes," CNBC, and NBC. A report on Friday morning suggested the ex-president is cancelling certain interviews because he's "exhausted."

Trump has given interviews to friendly outlets such as Fox Business, although even in those interviews he has stirred controversy by accusing Democratic lawmakers of being "the enemy within" and musing about using the American military against them.
