The Port of Grays Harbor says terminal activity is at a record pace halfway through 2024. According to the Port, after a record-setting year for cargo handled in 2023 at the Port of Grays Harbor’s 4 deep-water terminals, the first 6-months of activity at the docks in 2024 are on pace for yet another record year.
Pedestrian who was hit and killed by driver in Thurston County identified
A 50-year-old pedestrian who was hit and killed on U.S. Highway 101 in Thurston County Friday night has been identified, according to the Washington State Patrol. About 7 p.m. Friday, July 12, Denver J. Davis, of Aberdeen, was on the right shoulder of the highway when he was struck by a driver headed north.

The collision occurred on US 101 just north of State Route 8 in Thurston County. The Washington State Patrol says that Davis was walking on the right shoulder when he was struck by a red 2024 Honda HR-V driven by a 27-year-old Murfreesboro, TN man that was traveling northbound on US 101.
Seattle City Light to increase rates due to higher demand, rising energy costs
SEATTLE - The Seattle City Light Department recently announced a plan to increase rates for customers amid a growing energy demand and heightened labor costs. Customers could see a 5.4% rate increase in 2025 and 2026, which equates to about an extra $5 per month or $10 per bi-monthly billing cycle for the typical Seattle City Light customer.
