Baby gorilla needs a new mom, zoo says
Efforts to coax a gorilla to bond with her newborn have switched to looking for a suitable surrogate among three other adult female gorillas, according to Woodland Park Zoo. What's happening: 22-year-old Akenji gave birth to the as-yet-unnamed boy on June 28, but she "repeatedly turned away from him" and indicated "she is not interested," said interim animal care manager Rachel Vass in an emailed statement.
