A popular wedding venue in south Louisiana was severely damaged after someone drove their car through the venue.

KLFY-TV 10 reports that The Crossing at Mervine Khane was damaged on Saturday evening July 6 after a car went through the entrance to the venue.

According to the report by the news station, the building was built in the 1800s and is now a popular venue for large gatherings like weddings, showers, corporate events, etc.

Some of the support posts in the building were damaged and many of the floors in the building are now damaged due to skid marks.

Police say that a woman hit the building then drove off and hit another building nearby. They believe that the woman may have had a medical emergency and was unaware of what was happening.

No one was in the building at the time of this accident and according to the report by KLFY-TV, no one was injured in this bizarre crash.

One of the owners of the building did say that there may have been some damage to the structure of the building and that repairs are underway.

The Crossing at Mervine Khane is an iconic building in downtown Rayne, and having been there on many occasions, it is a beautiful historic building. Now, we just hope that the repairs can get the building back to where it once was as we rapidly approach “wedding season” in Acadiana.
