3 Chinese Nationals plead ‘not guilty’ to marijuana charges
On July 11, three Chinese Nationals charged with illegal marijuana cultivation pled not guilty in Lincoln County Unified Criminal Court during individual arraignment hearings. In January, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office led six raids in Whitefield and Chelsea leading to the arrest of seven Chinese Nationals and the issuing of a summons to another person, in connection with alleged illegal marijuana growing cultivation operations. On Jan. 10, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department, Maine Office of Cannabis Policy and Department of Homeland Security executed three search warrants in Whitefield and Jefferson.

Police say a Ford Escape driven by a 77-year-old Lewiston woman was trying to cross Washington Street when she entered the path of a Hyundai Elantra driven by a 25-year-old Lewiston woman. A deadly motorcycle crash in Limerick is one of multiple fatal motor vehicle crashes this week in Maine. Troopers from the Maine State Police Southern Field Troop responded to a fatal motor vehicle crash in Limerick on Saturday afternoon, which killed 30-year-old Christopher Mannion of Scarborough. The initial investigation indicated that Mannion lost control while operating a motorcycle and struck a guardrail, and speed appears to be a contributing factor in the crash.
