Part of Springfield Ave. in Westfield to be Closed Overnight Again This Week
WESTFIELD, NJ — The Town of Westfield has been advised by Elizabethtown Gas that a portion of Springfield Avenue will be closed during overnight hours this week for utility work, Westfield Police said in a Nixle alert Monday. The Nor-Gwyn 9-and-under Gritty Hawks made it through the 2024 Cal Ripken Baseball Middle Atlantic Region Tournament last week in three of four successful bouts. The only team to hand them a loss in their tournament run was Cranford. The Gritty Hawks were determined during their championship game Friday night to triumph over the team that bested them in their quest, again.

NJ Transit and Amtrak running again after downed wires disrupt service
Downed wires near Rahway, New Jersey caused service disruptions for New Jersey Transit and Amtrak Sunday. Services between New York City and Phialdephia were suspended just before 5 p.m. yesterday afternoon and partially restored around 6:30 p.m. Services have been fully restored, and both New Jersey Transit and Amtrak are back up and running.

Monmouth Park hosted their signature race, the grade 1 Haskell Stakes, on Saturday. Belmont Stakes winner Dornoch earned his fourth career stakes victory in an exciting stretch battle, once again fending off the late rally of Mindframe, who finished second to Dornoch in the Belmont as well, and crossing the wire 1 1/4 lengths in front.
