The New York Fashion Week hype is real. It’s a week-long bonanza ripe with celebrity and influencer sightings, people killing the streetwear game, and buzzy runway moments that elicit everything from approving nods to questionable side eyes to dropped jaws.

The Spring/Summer 2025 shows brought all the above in good measure, affirming certain styles are here to stay, alongside boundary-pushing freshness that have us thoroughly excited to pull 'fits for the coming months. From gothic glam (see Palomo Spain) to ‘60s inspired looks (Exhibit A: St. John), we’re calling these the top trends for 2025.

    Boxy Blazers

Oversized garments are still basking in the fashion spotlight, as evidenced across plenty of runways this season. Boxy blazers—which fuse Office Siren vibes with the ongoing casualization of style—were a particularly common motif from show to show. It’s no surprise they were a staple at Rag & Bone, Tommy Hilfiger, and Ralph Lauren, where tailored garments are ingrained in the designers’ DNA.

    Wearable Mosaics

Fashion as art will always be a thing, but this season designers really embraced the notion. Dubbed “primitive chic,” the entire collection by rising star Grace Ling felt like a walking art exhibit with surprising textural elements—like gowns with shattered metallic details, weathered and worn fractured fabrics, and even a literal 3D printed birdcage. Christian Siriano played with this trend, too, showcasing intricate, vine-like embroidery crawling across sheer fabric.

    Sheer Fabrics

Speaking of sheer fabrics, peekaboos abound for Spring/Summer 2025 fashion with the usage of gossamer, mesh, organza and lace. Almost every piece in Christian Siriano’s collection wove in sheer details and eye-catching cutouts. While Siriano’s collection utilized more moody hues like black and gray—and body-hugging silhouettes—Prabal Gurung put an girlish-feminine twist on the see-through trend. She showcased billowy fabrics, soft colors, and surprising touches like polka dots and fringe.

    ‘60s Invasion

We’ve seen so much of the ‘90s and ‘00s—with maybe a bit of the 1980s and ‘70s thrown into the mix—but the Spring/Summer 2025 NYFW runways jumped back further in time with garments inspired by 1960s silhouettes, textures, and color stories. Sergio Hudson’s entire collection nodded to this revolutionary, experimental era with pastel pops, tweed, and retro silhouettes. Designer Sandy Liang leaned into the ‘60s, too via trench coats, satin, and a nod to spy girls and secret agents.

    Pop Art Chic

Along with more avante garde approaches to turning garments into art, many designers brought on “pop art” vibes in their ready-to-wear collections this season. AREA is a standout here—there were handprints on dresses and 3D explosions of color—and Melitta Baumeister put a more minimalist spin on the idea with splashy abstract color blocking. Gothic Glam

Those who roll their eyes at the whole “florals for spring” thing can rejoice in this twisted take on the season! Gothic glamor was a fixture on the Spring/Summer 2025 runway a la wine-soaked lips, lived-in smoky eyes and slept-in hair, chunky metal jewelry and garments giving bougie vampire vibes. Palomo Spain’s ready-to-wear collection set the bar for this gothic glam look with oversize silk trench coats complete with frilly collar details, silky pink blouses dripping in black fringe, and head-to-toe hot orange fur.

    Textural Surprises

Style is supposed to be fun and playful, and what better way to do that than weave in textural details that delight the senses? We saw pom pom netting peeking out under skirts and ruffle reverie at Khaite, Palomo Spain embraced feathers and fur, Collina Strada said yes to tidal waves of ruched ribbon, and Love Shack Fancy kept it sweet with floral appliques and bubble skirts .
