If you have recently purchased a platform bed from Amazon or Walmart, you may want to check the make and model. Lucid Mattress recently recalled about 138,000 Platform Beds with Upholstered Square Tufted Headboards from Utah-based importer CVB because they can “sag, break, or collapse during use” which can cause “fall and injury hazards to consumers.”

According to the company’s recall notice , the recalled bed was manufactured between 2019 and 2021 and priced between $150 and $250.

The beds were sold at various retailers in the U.S. and Canada from September 2019 through April 2024. Retailers included Amazon.com, Bed Bath & Beyond, Belk.com, Brookside, eBay, Home Depot, JC Penney, Lowes.com, Lucid, Macy's, Menards, Overstock, QVC, Sears.com, Target.com, Malouf VIP, Walmart and Wayfair.

The recall notice states that “Lucid Platform Beds with an upholstered square tufted headboard in Twin, Full, Queen, King, and Cal-King sizes” are all included in this recall. The beds were sold in a variety of colors, such as beige, black, charcoal, cobalt, pearl, and stone, and had wooden support beams and wooden support legs.

The recalled items also have a white federal law label with “Made For CVB INC, 1525 W 2960 S, LOGAN, UT 84321” printed on it. You can find the federal law label located on the backside of the bed’s headboard.

The company received 245 reports of the beds breaking, sagging or collapsing during use. These defects have already caused 18 injuries, which include contusions and bruises, according to Lucid's recall notice.

Anyone who purchased these recalled beds should stop using them immediately. Customers affected by this recall can receive a replacement for free. According to Lucid’s website, “Consumers must write 'recalled' on the support rails of the bed with a permanent marker and send a photo of the bed, as well as a photo of the support rails on the underside of the bed or a photo of the law label to recall@lucidmattress.com to receive the free replacement product.”

If you have any questions about this recall, contact Lucid directly via one of the following methods.

Is anyone else giggling over the potential reasons the beds are breaking, or am I just naughty?
