With a new season comes new hairstyles , and pop star and style icon Camila Cabello is embracing the changing of the leaves and crisp autumn air with a new look that is already become the next big trend. Enter: the ' Birkin bob' haircut .

The singer isn’t afraid to change up her look—it wasn’t long ago Cabello was rocking long blonde locks—and over the weekend she debuted her new bob at the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas. Coined the 'Birkin bob' cut by celebrity stylist Dimitris Giannetos via Instagram , the look is all about embracing French girl chic.

“The 'birkin bob' is essentially a long bob with fringe bangs,” says Gregory Patterson , celebrity stylist and DIY Expert for Sally Beauty. “These short, slightly feathered bangs frame the face better than straight-across bangs. This is different from other bobs, as bobs usually end above the shoulders and have a blunt cut.”

Looking to try the 'Birkin bob' at your next hair appointment? Read on below to learn exactly how the actress achieved the look.

What to Ask Your Stylist for at the Salon

To ensure you get the perfect 'Birkin bob,' Patterson recommends asking your stylist for a haircut where your hair ends at your collarbones. "For your bangs, you want a feathered bang to frame your face. You can also ask for face-framing layers in the front if you don’t want a blunt-cut look on the ends," he says.

The key here is the longer lob vibe —but you can have fun with the trend and tailor it however you want. Play with fringe lengths to best suit your face shape , or even consider switching up textures to go from classic French bob to rocker chic with a few scrunches of the hair.

    How to Style the Look

We all know the struggle of trying to recreate the perfect ‘do after a salon visit. Luckily, this long lob can be styled in different ways so you don’t have to spend hours with your hot tools.

Patterson recommends using a serum or hair oil before styling to achieve an ultra-smooth and silky look, as this style is “all about the smooth and classic simplicity.” When blowing it dry, take large sections of hair and blow-dry them almost all the way—but before your hair is completely dry, apply your favorite volumizer to smooth over the top, remove any excess frizz, and give a voluminous boost.
