These colors are just as cozy as they are chic.
We’ve officially entered fall, and while it’s nice to feel a cool breeze, we all know frostier temperatures are coming (and so will a new year!). There’s a good chance you’ll be hunkering down and getting cozy for the season soon, so there’s no better time to make an upgrade to your space by adding a fresh coat of paint. Whether you're going for a relaxing vibe in your bedroom or want something a bit more luxe for the living room , a roller and a can of paint can magically transform the space.
Not sure what color to choose? We’ve got plenty of ideas to help you narrow it down. Here are the top paint trends for winter 2025, according to designers.

Soft, muted paint colors—such as Snowbound by Sherwin-Williams—will trend this winter because they evoke a cozy, serene atmosphere , according to Trina Rogers, color consultant. Another example is Hale Navy by Benjamin Moore, Rogers says. “This deep blue creates a dramatic, inviting backdrop reminiscent of winter nights.” And while deep, cold grey hues are over, she says greige is making a bit of a comeback. Colors like Pale Oak by Benjamin Moore add warmth while maintaining a fresh feel, Rogers explains. “This color is perfect for reflecting natural light on shorter days.”
If you're not into shades of greige, Rogers suggests going for colors like Dover White by Sherwin-Williams, sharing that this paint is ideal for homes with white trim because it has a high reflective value that will help brighten up rooms on those short, dark winter days.
Rich Green Hues
There’s nothing better for winter than a deep jewel tone. “Rich jewel tones like emerald green are popular, as they bring a touch of luxury and warmth, enhancing the seasonal coziness associated with winter interiors,” Rogers says. All shades of green have been trending for a while now, and this is a solid choice for anyone who wants something current that won’t feel dated next winter. Emerald Isle by Benjamin Moore is the perfect place to start.
Burgundy
Burgundy might just be the trendiest color of 2025 across the board, according to interior designer Becky Shea. “Burgundy is making a statement this fall and winter," she says. "I've always adored this rich Bordeaux hue—it’s been a staple in my life since the early days of my career, from my nails to my favorite dahlias and my fashion choices.” Burgundy is also one of the best shades of red to go with, because it's sophisticated and easy to coordinate with other colors. For a versatile shade, try Dark Burgundy by Benjamin Moore.
Black or Dark Brown
While it’s a bold choice, black and dark brown are back in 2025. Black and dark brown are fantastic choices for painting furniture, accent walls , moldings, and chair rails. Keep in mind that it’s easy to fall in love with this color, but it should be used sparingly. You might like Sherwin-Williams' Midsummer Night.
Warm Neutrals Paired With Bold, Dark Accents
Mixing warm neutrals with bold accents might sound like a challenge, but it’s not too difficult to achieve this look, according to interior designer Louise Bradley. “I recommend layering warm tones, like cream or warm neutrals, with varying textures to bring depth and comfort to the space," she explains. For example, you might "choose a chic yet cozy aesthetic by painting the walls a soft cream and add throws and pillows in similar hues." This combination of warmth and coziness creates a timeless yet eclectic look.
