Katie Ginella is trending right now. Some of this chatter revolves around her squabbles with Heather Dubrow on the Real Housewives of Orange County series. Yet, something new has just emerged, and this tidbit has the potential to scar Katie even more than Heather. It’s a lawsuit, and the plaintiff is seeking a $5 million payout from Katie.
An explainer of the lawsuit against Katie Ginella
In Touch broke this news after reaching out and touching these new court documents filed on behalf of a plaintiff named Chad Ruskey. Chad and his attorney filed this suit on July 31, naming a company owned by Katie, Tee Shots, alongside her business partners, George and Dolores. His suit slams these defendants for breaching an implied contract alongside an accusation of fraud, which, yikes.
In February 2023, Chad claims he alone developed a concept for a groundbreaking golf-related product. He called his “unique idea” a “Golf Shot.” His design featured a “golf ball-shaped shot glass” that can hold “a shot of alcohol.”
“The Golf Shot consists of a clear, spherical glass resembling a golf ball, meticulously crafted to reflect the dimpled surface of an actual golf ball. The glass is designed to hold approximately 50 ml of alcohol, such as tequila or other spirits, providing a novel and sophisticated drinking experience,” this lawsuit explains.
Chad then filed a patent application related to his invention. His working titles included Golf Shot and Tee Shots. Wanting advice, Chad approached George and Dolores. They agreed to partner with him on his idea since they liked this concept.
In March 2023, Chad claims they went over a mock-up for his Golf Shot. It was a done deal, or so he thought. But then, George and Dolores allegedly conspired behind his back, securing the name Tee Shots without his consent. They also cut Chad out and brought Katie on, knowing the platform RHOC would provide .
Chad is now seeking $5 million in damages. This one has the capacity to roll on for some time.
