On Below Deck Mediterranean , there’s a new girl in town on the boat. Chief stew Aesha Scott finally got the fourth stew she needed all season when Carrie O’Neill stepped aboard the Mustique.

Even though Aesha had struggled all season to run the big boat with a smaller staff than she needed, not everyone was thrilled to welcome the new stew. Second stew Elena Dubaich was immediately threatened by her new coworker.

During Bravo’s Below Deck Mediterranean After Show, Chef Jonathan Shillingford revealed how Ellie really felt about the new stew joining the interior crew. And she wasn’t exactly welcoming.

Carrie was more experienced than Ellie Dubaich

“Ellie definitely confided in me that she felt like Aesha was pushing her to the curb because of the way Carrie kind of came in and was taking on other responsibilities,” Jono shared.

Third stew Bri Muller supported the chef’s observation. “The difference is, Carrie has been a chief stew before. Ellie hasn’t,” she noted.

According to Jono, Ellie argued that Carrie hadn’t been a chief. “She was never a chief stew; she was a sole stew pretending to be a chief or something,” he recalled Ellie saying. “I don’t know. I heard all this drama.”

The Mustique’s second stew stuck to her story on the After Show. “Let’s be honest, Carrie’s a chief stew on a 30-meter,” she said. “Like, a solo stew.”

“Don’t tell me about standards from a booze cruise in Miami,” Ellie added. “That’s unacceptable. Anybody who’s in yachting, when they hear the boats I’ve worked on, they know what’s up. So, I’m not going to have Carrie come in here from a random booze cruise telling me about standards. As arrogant as that sounds, that’s just the reality of the matter.”

    Was Ellie just jealous?

Right off the bat, Ellie was so defensive with Carrie that she believed the new stew was “mocking” her. Even though Carrie was just there to help wherever she was needed, Ellie was immediately threatened by her presence. She felt Carrie was shoving her aside. She reminded me of a toddler who’s jealous of the new baby, especially when Carrie drew the attention of deckhand Joe Bradley .

“There was an underlying mocking tone with Carrie that I sensed,” the Slovenian native said. “That was her vibe. In my eyes, the floating position is basically a fourth stew position, so regardless of how much experience you have or what your rank is elsewhere, you’ve got to adapt to your rank in this environment … In my eyes, Carrie’s job was to assist us, [so we could] finish the season on a high note. It wasn’t her job to come and supervise us.”

Below Deck Mediterranean airs Mondays at 9/8c on Bravo.
