Andy Cohen has hosted his late-night talk show Watch What Happens Live for 15 years. There have been countless memorable moments in the show’s nearly two-decade-year history. Many moments have shocked viewers, but Andy is historically harder to break. He’s seen it all, after all. While the host is a master at remaining focused in the face of chaos, there have been a few episodes that have rocked him throughout the years.

When Lala Kent and James Kennedy Kept on Cussing

Vanderpump Rules stars Lala Kent and James Kennedy’s 2015 appearance on Watch What Happens Live was not safe for network TV. The talk show is broadcast live, so Andy and his guests must abide by FCC regulations. Unfortunately for Andy, Lala and James were not able to curb their pottymouths. The two dropped so many F-bombs that he had to intervene.

“Is there any way you could stop cussing?” he begged of the Bravo stars. “You’re driving me nuts. It’s happened like eight times.”

If you’ve seen the episode, you know “eight” was a conservative estimate. If you played a drinking game where you had to take a shot every time these two swore, you’d end up in the hospital.

James and Lala have appeared on WWHL several times since their 2015 blunder and have managed to keep their F-bombs under control. Yay for growth and media training!

When Mary Cosby Body shamed Heather Gay on Watch What Happens Live

Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star Mary Cosby stopped by the Clubhouse in October 2023 for a round of the infamous game “Versace or Hibachi.” Mary and fellow guest, comedian Ziwe, were asked to rate housewives’ looks by deeming them either “Versace” or “Hibachi.”

As expected, Mary did not like a single look and threw them all on the Hibachi grill. Andy may not have been shocked by her disdain for Bravo stars’ fashion choices but he appeared stunned by her statement on Heather Gay’s corset. When asked how she felt about Heather’s top, she said she thought it was faux Gucci.

“I don’t think Gucci makes that,” she said. “I’ve never seen a corset in a Size 14.”

Yikes. The comment appeared to stun both Andy and Ziwe. They looked super uncomfortable. Poor Heather. I think she rocked that Gucci corset!

When NeNe Leakes said, ‘Close your legs to married men’ to Kim Zolciak on Watch What Happens Live

NeNe Leakes’ 2009 appearance on WWHL will always be iconic. During the episode, Andy answered a call from NeNe’s Real Housewives of Atlanta co-star, Kim Zolciak. NeNe wasted no time laying into her co-star, calling her a “trash box” and telling her to, “close [her] legs to married men.” Andy couldn’t contain his amusement. He had to hide his laughter behind his cue cards.

Andy has always been a fan of NeNe, so it’s no surprise she got him to break. He spoke about her legacy in a September 2020 Instagram Post .

“Nene Leakes is an icon of the genre,” he wrote in the post’s caption. “She is a gif and catchphrase machine. In 11 years of #WWHL, Nene has been our most frequent guest, and she is always A BLAST.”

When Sonja Morgan Revealed a Celebrity Hookup on WWHL

Sonja Morgan has lived 100 lives. During an April 2017 appearance on WWHL , she revealed she once hooked up with Hollywood A-lister, Jack Nicholson.

“He’s so much fun…Who hasn’t [dated him]?” she told Andy. The host’s face lit up when Sonja revealed her secret rendezvous. When he questioned her further, Sonja replied, “Don’t forget how old I am, and don’t forget those days before cell phones.” Andy pressed the RHONY star on the nature of the fling, asking her if it was more than a one-night thing. She replied, “Nobody nails down Nicholson.” What an icon! Andy was left stunned and so were we.

When Brandi Glanville shared too much information on WWHL

One of the most famous and most awkward moments in WWHL history is when Brandi Glanville revealed intimate information about Real Housewives of Miami star Joanna Krupa.

During the episode, Andy received word that Joanna just sent a tweet about Brandi that read, “No wonder her husband left her.” Ouch. Well, Joanna picked the wrong Bravo star to mess with. Brandi retaliated by telling viewers, “Mohamed did tell me that her p*ssy smelled.” She did not reveal a last name but we suspect she was referring to Mohamed Hadid, given her connection to RHOBH and her friendship with Lisa Vanderpump, one of Mohamed’s close friends.

The confession shocked Andy, guest Mark Consuelos, and Andy’s parents who were, unfortunately, behind the bar.

Joanna filed a defamation case against Brandi for the crude comment. In August 2017, Brandi released a statement to E! News apologizing for her words.

Brandi began, “I want to apologize to Joanna Krupa for the statements I have made about her. I regret making such statements about Joanna Krupa, I also certainly never intended my statements to be taken so seriously and out of proportion,” she said. “I apologize as I never wanted my statements to affect Joanna Krupa’s reputation and I wish her nothing but continued success in life.”
