RHOP Season 9 Premiere Preview: Karen Huger’s Crash Is Reenacted

Leave it to the editors of Real Housewives of Potomac to turn Karen Huger’s drunk driving accident into a slightly laughable moment. Of course, there’s nothing funny about driving under the influence, and there’s nothing funny about Real Housewives receiving DUIs. But a sneak peek of the Season 9 RHOP premiere shows a ridiculous “dramatic reenactment” of Karen’s crash. The whole thing has us anxious to see how the Grande Dame navigates this mess.

Karen Huger’s crash takes centerstage on RHOP Season 9

The sneak peek of Season 9 starts out like something out of a Lifetime special. Suddenly, we’re transported behind the wheel of Karen’s Maserati. Everything is blurry, and then boom! A deer jumps out in front of the vehicle.

From there, Season 9 seems to dive into the inevitable outcome of Karen’s crash . The rest of the RHOP cast can’t help but gossip about it. Remember how they did Monique Samuels when she had her questionable car accident? Karen getting a DUI is about to be on a whole different level.

Although the producers have turned Karen’s crash into a little bit of a spectacle with this dramatic reenactment, Karen said she entered Season 9 with a sense of gratitude . She’s not taking the DUI lightly, and she went into the season ready to be crucified by her castmates.

“I was grateful to be alive, and I’m still in that place of gratitude. That’s how I carry it,” the Grande Dame explained.

We’re grateful for Karen’s gratitude, but we’re also grateful for how transparent she’s being about this whole situation. In the sneak peek, she opened up about her fragile emotional state. Between family loss and marital trouble, the Grande Dame wasn’t in the right headspace when got behind the wheel . This is zero excuse to drive drunk, however, especially when there are easily accessible ways to get home without harming yourself or others.

“Everything has something to do with where I’m at emotionally right now, which was the state I was in during that incident,” Karen shared in a confessional.
