Jax Taylor Hires Kevin Federline’s Lawyer; Now Wants Joint Legal Custody of Son Cruz

Jax Taylor made a pretty egregious error when responding to Brittany Cartwright’s divorce filings. That error? Jax’s stance on the custody of his son, Cruz Michael Cauchi . So, he called on Kevin Federline’s lawyer to come help.

Yesterday, we reported the details surrounding Jax’s legal documents in the divorce filing. The Valley star filled out these documents by hand and without the help of a lawyer. The documents seemed to communicate that Jax agreed with Brittany’s custody assertions .

Jax also did not check any boxes to terminate spousal support. As it turns out, Jax messed up. (But are we really surprised?) So, Jax decided he needed the help of a professional. And boy did he find one.

On October 4, In Touch reported that Jax erroneously filled out his legal paperwork. Jax mistakenly handed over full custody of his child to Brittany when he intended to make his own claim for joint custody. As such, Jax hired Mark Vincent Kaplan to represent him in court. What a strange pattern – these Vanderpump Rules stars with total legal ineptitude.

Jax’s new attorney might ring a bell for some. This case won’t be his only high-profile custody-related battle. Kaplan formerly represented Kevin Federline, the second ex-husband of Britney Spears . The attorney aided Federline in his successful attempts to receive greater and greater financial support from Britney over the years.

Shortly after In Touch reported their findings on Jax’s legal documents, his rep issued a statement. “Jax and Brittany have already long resolved all matters related to custody of Cruz, and will continue to work together privately for the best interest of their son, which remains their overriding concern,” the rep said.

They added, “While Jax made errors in filling out forms that are usually done by trained legal professionals, those errors will be amended without delay.”
