    Southeast picked up its first volleyball win of the season, topping Ravenna 25-8, 20-25, 25-15, 25-23 in nonleague action Monday evening.

    Kayla Grope had 13 kills for the Pirates (1-2) while Leila Evans added 21 points (including four aces) and Lilly Massrock tallied 19 assists.

    Grand Valley def. Windham 25-15, 22-25, 20-25, 25-21, 15-10

    The Mustangs won the final two sets to win a back-and-forth clash. The Bombers fell despite 34 kills from Sara Giugni, 32 assists from Quinn Justham and 15 digs from Sydnie Sweet.

    Late Saturday

    Crestwood def. Bedford 25-12, 25-17, 25-10

    The Red Devils started their season with a sweep, led by double-digit kills by Jackie Blasiole (12) and Maddie Dustman (10). They also got double-digit assists from Abby Guyette (17) and Mia Kalista (11).

    Boys Soccer

    Rootstown 9, Southeast 0

    The Rovers picked up their second nine-goal victory in a row to start the season, led by Zach Pastor's hat trick. Dylan Boland and Zach Hays added two goals apiece for Rootstown, which dominated the shot count (22-2) and the corner count (7-0).

    Girls Soccer

    Southeast 2, Champion 0

    The Pirates topped the Golden Flashes in a Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference opener.

    Taking on a Champion team that made the Division III regional finals last year, Southeast won with two goals by Claire Dillner and a shutout by Bailey Long.

    Sacha Ciavarella, Addison Goldstein, Cadence Hoover, Maddie Lutes, Bailey Morris and Payten Vrudney led a strong defensive effort in front of Long.

    Girls Golf

    Rootstown 202, Lake Center 225

    Balance won the day for the Rovers as all four scorers finished between a 49 and a 53. Anna Drago and Ava Miller tied for medalist honors, with a 49 apiece, with Alex Biggin (51) and Chloe Lynn Gardner (53) finishing close behind.

    Boys Golf

    Rootstown 175, Lake Center Christian 194

    The Rovers surged to 7-2 overall and 2-1 in the Portage Trail Conference behind a big performance from Ryan Wolf (42), with Luke Flowers (43), Trentan Sines (44) and Anthony Cambareri (46) following close behind.
