A grand jury has indicted a Ravenna man on felony charges stemming from allegations he led Ravenna police in a pursuit while driving a vehicle reported stolen from Kent State University.

Allan Roy Dluhos , 44, is charged with failure to comply with the order or signal of a police officer and grand theft of a motor vehicle.

Information about an arraignment was unavailable Friday. Dluhos is being held on a $10,000 bond set earlier in the week in Portage County Municipal Court in Ravenna.

Ravenna police reported multiple officers pursued a UTV they said Dluhos drove Aug. 25 along streets and the bike-and-hike trail on the north side of State Route 59.

Speeds were reported at 15 to 20 mph, and the vehicle reportedly often left the road to travel on sidewalks and across front lawns, nearly hitting two juveniles as it went across one front yard, police said. At one point, the UTV struck the rear of a police cruiser when an officer tried to block it.

The pursuit ended when cruisers blocked the UTV outside Ravenna High School, where Dluhos was arrested.

Ravenna police said Kent State University police confirmed the vehicle, which is used by building maintenance employees, had been stolen from the campus earlier Sunday afternoon. KSU police said Dluhos is not an employee of the university.
