Report: Cities in Middle, East Tennessee best for relocating
NASHVILLE, Tenn.--A new report ranking the best and worst cities for new residents to relocate finds cities to the east of Nashville are most favorable. The report, created by USA Today Homefront, ranked 20 cities on 16 metrics, including life expectancy, median income, typical rent, typical home value, and unemployment rate. Their analysis resulted in Johnson City taking the #1 spot thanks to high marks in health care, public safety, second-lowest rent, good education options, and the second-most restaurants per 1,000 residents.
Tompkinsville man sentenced to nearly 13 years for crimes against minor
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) - A Tompkinsville man was sentenced to over 12 years in federal prison this week for attempted crimes against a minor. According to the U.S. District Attorney’s Office, Matthew W. Burkhard, 36, was sentenced to 12 years and seven months in federal prison, followed by 20 years of supervised release, for one count of attempted online enticement of a minor.

Apply For TDOC’s Citizens’ Correctional Academy
The Tennessee Department of Correction (TDOC) has begun accepting applications for the fall 2024 Citizens’ Correctional Academy. The six-week program is designed to give Tennesseans an in-depth look at the state’s largest law enforcement agency. Classes will be held on Thursday evenings from September 12, 2024, through October 17, 2024, at various TDOC locations around Nashville.
